The Role
As our first Engineering Director, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the growth of our technology as Oshi scales. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer and collaborating closely with our product management team, you'll drive technical strategy and oversee engineering across our Web, Mobile, and Salesforce platforms. As the leader of these teams, you will guide the features, services and architecture that define our patient experience and clinical tools.
What you’ll do:
- Leadership: Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and innovation. Promote an environment where experimentation and learning are valued.
- Team Management: Oversee team health and productivity by implementing and tracking key performance metrics to ensure alignment with organizational goals and employee well-being
- Architecture: Partner with technical leads to evolve our platform architecture and incorporate new capabilities. Align technical investments with broader business objectives and strategy.
- Product Partnership: Work with product managers to define KPIs and align the product and technology roadmaps against company objectives and key results.
- Team Building: Set clear goals and high expectations for high-performing engineers. Identify talent gaps, recruit top talent, and mentor team members to foster growth.
- Collaboration: Establish strong relationships with stakeholders in product management, growth, clinical, and operations. Ensure alignment between priorities and technology investments.
- Coordination: Manage large-scale engineering projects, enhancing team communication and ensuring deliverables meet planned timelines.
- Quality: Maintain high standards for engineering outputs, ensuring the team possesses the tools needed to deliver scalable, high-quality releases quickly and iteratively.
Who you are:
- A hands-on engineering leader with over 5 years in management roles at growth-stage startups.
- A seasoned engineer with at least 10 years of experience designing and building scalable systems, with a proven track record of delivering user-facing products.
- Skilled in making strategic build vs. buy decisions and selecting vendors for major technology implementations.
- An empathetic mentor who has guided both individual contributors and managers across various levels of seniority and skill sets.
- A proponent of diversity, equity, and inclusion, demonstrating these values in leadership and recruitment practices.
- An advocate for compliance and security, ensuring that engineering practices meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Deeply passionate about healthcare and committed to Oshi’s mission of transforming GI care.
- Holder of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
