Position Summary:
The Technical Lead position is a combination of escalation support from the helpdesk (40%) and long-term projects (60%). The Technical Lead provides escalation support and guidance to Tier 2 engineers. In addition, the Technical Lead serves as a client point of contact for projects. The Technical Lead is also responsible for major projects including planning, implementation, and post migration support. The Technical Lead will work closely with the Chief Technology Officer to ensure technical service levels are met, and that projects are completed successfully.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Project Manager and Lead Engineer for Cloud Migration and High Level Projects
- Respond to customer inquiries, set appropriate deadlines and meet as agreed
- Accurately assess customer needs and confirm customer’s understanding of needs
- Complete assigned technical and project management tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Consistently maintain positive customer relationships that ensure customer satisfaction to promote a culture of world class service
- Travel within the Washington DC metro area to client sites to perform high level/project work onsite at a customer location
Engagement with Tier 2 Technical Support Engineers
- Receives and resolves service issues escalated from Tier 2 Technical Support Engineers
- Promotes a culture of learning and growth for Tier 2 Support Engineers
- Maintains a positive attitude towards training others
- Works collaboratively with other Senior staff
- Serve as overflow support when Tier 2 Technical Support Engineers are at capacity
- Participate in the “on-call” rotation and responds to after-hours alerts promptly
- Participate in scheduled monthly maintenance (last Saturday of each month)
- Actively attends and participates in team meetings as established by leadership
Job Qualifications:
Experience
- 5-7 years of experience illustrating increasing levels of responsibility
- Previous consulting or MSP experience preferred
- Knowledge and experienced with Microsoft Cloud including Office 365/Azure
- Deep knowledge of Windows Server 2012/2016/2019
- Experience configuring and managing firewalls and switches, including setup of VLANs, NAT rules, VPN tunnels
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and common applications for automating repetitive tasks.
- Knowledge of VMware vSphere/ Microsoft Hyper-V (e.g. creating new virtual machines, changing resource allocations, etc.)
- Understanding of Linux including ability to install updates, restart services, check logs, basic troubleshooting; ability to install and troubleshoot web-based applications (e.g. LAMP stack)
- Knowledge of SQL database and troubleshooting
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
- MCSE (Windows Server or Microsoft Cloud)
