We are currently seeking a Payroll Lead. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Lead is responsible for payroll-related tasks and provides direction and assistance to department staff regarding payroll processes. Maintains compliance with local legislations across all payrolls and the end-to-end delivery of all payrolls in an accurate and timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Supports payments of payroll to OUS field employees by performing various
related tasks. The duties listed below should not be considered an all-inclusive list. As the needs of the company change, these duties may be modified as needed.
- Ensures accurate and timely weekly payroll processing for 3,000 Mutli-State Field Hourly employees
- Audits and completes payroll corrections and adjustments
- Provides direction and assistance to department staff regarding payroll processes
- Coordinates workload of payroll department based on input from individual specialists, analyst and manager
- Monitors daily bank exceptions, including ACH rejections, positive pay decisions, etc.
- Creates data import file in Payroll Preprocessor and Imports into Payroll Administration system (UKG)
- Performs NACHA/ACH file, manual check file, and Control Total submission to bank
- Processes garnishments for tax levies, child support, wage assignments, etc.
- Sets up tax states for multi-state employees
- Answers high volume phone calls, emails and general mail regarding payroll/HR/tax questions
- Creates reports and submits to various state agencies and internal departments
- Processes Foremen and Crewmember vacation and sick time requests – Time Off Email Inbox management
- Processes Bonus payments
- Submits Certified Payrolls to state agencies as needed
- Approves employee self service payroll tool in UKG (To Do’s)
- Manages Rapid Payroll debit card process, including creating cards, loading funds, replenishing company account
- Assists Payroll Analyst with union reporting and payments and General Ledger reporting
- Special projects as requested
- Contributes to other duties not specifically mentioned above, to achieve the goals of the company
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years US multi-state payroll experience required.
- Prior experience with payroll software systems required. UKG Pro (formerly UltiPro) strongly preferred; Kronos preferred but not required
- Minimum two year accounting or payroll certificate from college or technical school preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Highly proficient with various computer software systems with the capacity to learn new technology very quickly
- Independent, Self starter and critical thinker who can research and resolve payroll issues
- Knowledge of basic accounting practices and procedures
- MS Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel skills at intermediate level or better
- Considerable initiative with a “can do” attitude: a self-starter with customer focus
- Knowledge of the practice, methods, and techniques of process improvement
- Attention to detail, accurate when working under pressure and deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, able to build relationships with other departments and staff at all levels
- Ability to multi-task, solve problems and take responsibility for resolution
- Strong team player, with the ability to work collaboratively
- Cultural awareness, with an ability to work with people at all levels across several countries
- Understanding of requirement to always maintain complete discretion and confidentiality
