Mental Health Services Coordinator

The Oswego County Social Services Department Mental Hygiene Division has an immediate opening for Mental Health Services Coordinator. This position would be responsible for access, eligibility determination, and prioritization of referrals to local Community Mental Health programs such as Case Management, Care Coordination, Assertive Community Treatment, Assisted Outpatient Treatment programs, Residential programs, and Family Support Services. The individual is responsible for coordination of access to these services across community provider agencies under the general supervision of the Director of Community Services.

Qualifications: Possession of a master’s in social work, social science, health, psychiatric rehabilitation, or a closely related field three (3) years of experience in mental health social work; OR Possession of a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, psychiatric rehabilitation, or a closely related field four (4) years of experience in mental health social work. NOTE: Mental Health Social Work is defined as social work experience in a residential or community-based program for individuals with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or alcohol or substance abuse. The following types of experience are not considered mental health social work: correctional counseling, parole or probation work, casework in a social services setting, school social work and/or youth outreach work. Work in a hospital or other health facility would not be considered mental health social work unless the work assignment dealt primarily with mental health problems such as work in an alcohol detoxification unit or psychiatric unit.

Permanent appointment to this position will require successful completion of the civil service examination.

Pay Rate: $27.74 per hour plus competitive benefits package including: health, life, dental and vision insurance; NYS Retirement; and Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
