Custodian
The Oswego Senior Center (OSC) offers educational, nourishment, health and wellness services to all seniors in Kendall County. Classes and activities include exercise, fitness, balance strengthening, mindfulness, health screens, and education.
The custodian maintains and cleans the building to meet customer satisfaction. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by requirements and business needed.
Custodian Job Responsibilities
- Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
- Adheres to established procedures to provide a safe working environment including complying with Osha, state/local, federal, and company regulations.
- Performs routine maintenance activities.
- Maintains a clean and orderly environment
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors.
- Gathers and empties trash.
- Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.
- Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
- Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers according to instructions.
- Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Shampoos or steam-cleans carpets and rugs.
- Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures.
- Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Notifies managers regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Handles small projects and repairs such as light bulb replacement and painting.
Work Hours & Benefits
This is a part time position with the specific hours to be determined by building requirements and use. The Center will open at 9:00 AM so the custodial is responsible to ensure the building is ready. There are no benefits with this position.
Custodian Qualifications / Skills:
- Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours
- Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time
- Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions
- Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals
- Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
- Communication skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders and work at particular heights
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic math skills
- Specific knowledge may be preferred for jobs involving repair work
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
