What are the responsibilities and job description for the MEP Construction Manager position at OTAK INC?

We are seeking a talented and organized Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Construction Manager in the Clarksville, TN area to support a project in the advanced manufacturing / mission critical sector. This is a client-facing support position and will require partnering with our seasoned project management team, design consultants and builders, so excellent customer service and consistent communication is essential. As part of our Project Management / Construction Management division, you will have the opportunity to work on one of our leading projects under the support of a project team and gain valuable industry knowledge and experience in the field.

What you'll do:

  • As the MEP Construction Manager, you will oversee all aspects of design quality review, construction execution, and completion with a focus on client relationship management, collaboration with field staff, and the onsite documentation / troubleshooting required to execute large capital construction projects from $150M to more than $1B.
  • Engage with key Client internal stakeholder groups and external vendors—including architects, engineers, and designers—to understand the owner’s requirements and coordinate building system designs that will support future operations of the campus.
  • Lead QA/QC efforts for all MEP work packages on behalf of the client.
  • Provide direction and participate in project planning, scheduling, value engineering, and establishing critical project objectives.
  • Facilitate project set-up and closeout, RFI & submittal review, and field progress tracking specific to construction project or program level activities as required.
  • Administer Prime Contract, subcontractor, and client contractor invoicing process.
  • Coordinate and facilitate client, supplier and company commissioning and ensure start-up and training is completed prior to substantial/final completion.
  • Ability to be on-site, full-time at project campus in Clarksville, TN.

What you'll bring:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management preferred; professional registration / PMP / certification is highly preferred. Equivalent work experience with evidence of exceptional ability also will be considered.
  • Equivalent combination of experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of design, construction and engineering terminology and processes is required.
  • On-site construction experience required, with preference for QA/QC background
  • Deep understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing building systems and operations.
  • Prior experience in Auto Industry Assembly Plants, Advanced Manufacturing or Mission Critical faculties is preferred.
  • Battery Construction Project experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Collaborative, proactive, and comprehensive approach to problem solving and engaging with teams and diverse networks of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong technology, organization, and communication skills to handle large volumes of work and multi-tasking.
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu, Smartsheet, SharePoint and various Construction Management software highly preferred.
