What are the responsibilities and job description for the DC Facilities Assoc Admin position at Otava?
The Data Center Facilities Associate Administrator will support the day-to-day management and operation of Otava’s Data Centers. This position will work first-shift on-site in Denver, CO.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the operation and day-to-day management of tasks for Otava’s data centers
- Responsible for periodic walk-throughs, tours, maintenance, and upgrades to the physical infrastructure of other company data centers
- Responsible for managing vendors on site to complete maintenance, repairs, deployments, turn up, etc.
- Responsible for local projects with critical power, critical cooling, and fire systems under the direction of the Manager of Critical Facilities Infrastructure.
- Responsible for daily walkthroughs and monitoring all critical power, critical cooling and fire systems in the facility.
- Provide smart-hands remote support for our clients and OT staff.
- Assist in maintaining 100% critical system uptime for the OT Data Centers.
- Work with the Network Operations Center, Deployment Engineers, and Data Center Operations team to aid in investigating alarms, troubleshooting issues, and deploying new clients.
- Responsible for coordinating and managing vendors for the installation of power, network, rack, and cage as well as rack-and-stack of equipment for client deployments.
- Suggest improvements to existing processes to enhance efficiency and client satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as required to help the Otava team achieve its objectives
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- General understanding of IT, from the data center floor through the network and server infrastructure
- Able to keep organized multiple initiatives from managing vendors to deploying new customers to ensuring the daily operational tasks are completed on time
- Enthusiasm for technology, organization, and creating exceptional experiences for customer
- An understanding of electrical and mechanical systems (e.g. UPS, PDU, CRAC).
- An understanding of IT network, server, and service vocabulary (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, AD, SNMP, VPN, PDU, UPS).
- Driven individual – a very strong desire to learn, self-motivate, proactive
- Knowledge of HIPAA, PCI, and/or Safe Harbor a plus
- Communicate effectively
EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years' managing facilities, preferably in a tech industry, or related trade experience (mechanical, electrical, low voltage structured cabling)
EDUCATION:
- Degree in IT, technical related field, apprenticeship, engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Technology related certifications
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Able to travel locally in own vehicle (with valid driver’s license) to support Otava’s other data centers, <20% of time (mileage is reimbursed).
- Able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Must be able to stoup and bend
- This is a 24/7 availability position with normal working hours M-F 8 am – 5 pm
