Job Title: Custodian
Reports To: Facilities and Operations Director
Schedule: 3:15 p.m. - 11:45 p.m., Monday-Thursday, 1:45 p.m.-10:15 p.m. on Friday
Pay Range: $12.25 and up depending on qualifications
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Facilities and Operations Director and guidance of the Lead Custodian, the Custodian coordinates and performs environmental service tasks, cleaning and maintenance of school buildings, mechanical repairs, support services for day and evening school activities, boiler observation and evening security for Elementary Schools in the Northfield School District. This position assists in providing a safe, clean learning environment for students, staff, and faculty. Under the supervision of the Lead Custodian or designee, the Custodian cleans and maintains the school building and grounds, sets up equipment for special events, and assists school personnel with work requests.
Additional Information:
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· Valid, current Driver’s license required.
· Cleans assigned areas of the building. Assists with general cleanup of the school. Does emergency cleaning as needed (e.g. blood, vomit, burst water pipes).
· Assists students by opening or repairing lockers, changing locker combinations, opening doors, letting down baskets and bleachers, etc.
· Assists in maintaining security of building, performing weekend and holiday building checks, and maintaining the fire and burglar alarms. May be required to work on Sundays, holidays, early morning, etc. for snow removal or other emergency work.
· Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to perform at an acceptable level within six (6) months of being awarded the position.
USD290 conducts background screenings and TB tests on all potential candidates.
