We are looking for a Orthotic Fitter (Position w/ Growth Opportunities) Or Certified Pedorthotist at our Warren,MI patient care facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluates patients with physical disabilities, disease or deformity for appropriate orthotic treatment (i.e. therapeutic shoes, inserts, and other orthoses).
- Formulate design of pedorthotic devices; Use scanning technology, casting, and foam impressions.
- Direct technicians and/or assist in fabrication of some items.
- Select materials, makes cast measurements, model modifications, and layouts, taking into account new techniques and materials.
- Perform fitting, including static and dynamic alignments.
- Instruct patients on care of pedorthic devices and confirm their understanding of wear and use of devices.
- Provide detailed clinical notes to patient records.
- Provide assistance to other clinical staff.
- Participate in continuing education to be proficient in techniques and material properties.
- Identify and create improvements to processes to promote efficiency and productivity.
- Adhere to all safety regulations; Compliance with Medicare and other governmental regulations; Compliance with bloodborne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to assess patient conditions and recommend treatment options.
- Knowledge of and ability to assist in evaluation of foot orthotic needs on a diverse patient population.
- Skill in casting and model modification techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively and participate in a team approach.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing and to work effectively with a wide range of people, including, vendors, suppliers, providers, co-workers, and management.
- Time management skills; Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to completion.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use good judgment in resolving issues.
- Proficient computer skills; Proficient in MS Office and databases.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in orthotics and prosthetics; OR a Bachelors degree in any major and a pedorthic certificate form a CAAHEP accredited program a 12-month National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) accredited residency program.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience to meet board eligibility.
- Current board certification or board eligible in Pedorthics (i.e. American Board Certified (ABC)).
- 2-5 years’ demonstrated past experience in providing pedorthic services under the supervision of a certified practitioner.
