Advanced Math Position Description
We are seeking an energetic, creative, collaborative individual who will be responsible for instructing students in grades 5th through 8th in our advanced Math program.
Position Specifics
· Clearly communicate concepts, ideas, and strategies to students through the development of flexible, effective teaching tools and methods to help students learn mathematics that create a challenging yet attainable learning environment.
· Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate, including independent and collaborative work.
· Assign and grade class work and homework; meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress as needed.
· Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools and maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
· Collaborate with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.
· Use computers, Promethean Panels, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.
· Establish and enforce standards of behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
· Attend staff, professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
Position Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree with a teaching certificate or credentials that translate to successful classroom teaching. Advanced degree preferred but not required.
· Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all administration, colleagues and parents.
· Vital insight and understanding of middle school students
· Demonstrated professional behavior, including discretion, judgment and integrity.
· All prospective employees must be able to clear a background check and fingerprinting.
