Job Summary
Our Cell Mechanical Engineer will join a brilliant engineering team to work on current and disruptive technologies. They will collaborate directly with the Lead engineers and will report to the Cell Engineering Mechanical Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design responsible for Mechanical Design of current and future battery cells
- Manages the high-level mechanical needs for a cell design: Cell Structure, Current Collector, Isolators, Seals, Terminals.
- Provide guidance to prototype team and production team.
- Willingness to perform hands on fabrication as needed
- Create CAD mockups for use in pitching prototype ideas and then turn those ideas into manufacturable CAD
- Create presentations using previously created CAD to ether demonstrate concept or describe planned implementation for design review
- Show willingness to collaborate on multi-disciplinary projects
- Develop Bill of Materials of all required mechanical components.
- Create manufacturing drawings and source packages for designed components
- Understand prototype manufacturing timeline and able to address longer lead items in appropriate order
- Perform basic FEA on structures
- Perform any additional duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
- BS or MS. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Preferred M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
- Preferred 5 years in in automotive mechanical design and development
- Working knowledge of NX CAD software and Team Center PLM
- Demonstrated hands-on abilities (e.g., machine shop skills, technical hobbies/projects, etc.)
- Preferred experience with prototypes and or racing
- General understanding of mechanical part fabrication methods (e.g., machining, stamping, extrusion, welding, injection molding, casting, etc.)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
- Attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to delivery projects efficiently and on time
- Experience with FEA and CFD simulation tools
