Shop Mechanic
Reports to: Shop Manager
Summary:
The Shop Mechanic’s primary responsibilities include assisting in maintenance of vehicles and machines, recordkeeping and maximizing productivity within the fleet. They do so by following a daily schedule supplied by the Shop Manager and communicating regularly to ensure they are properly updated. This is largely hands-on work and effective time-management skills will be essential to complete all required duties.

Job Duties:
- Take daily direction from Shop Manager and assist them to:
- Diagnose and repair snow or landscape equipment such as trucks, mowers, trimmers, trailers, loaders, skid steers, tractors, snow pushers, etc.
- Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections and complete repairs including pressure washing, oil and filter changes, greasing, tire pressure and fluids
- Identify and assist in developing training opportunities based on observations made from repairs ensuring an increase in vehicle and equipment productivity
- Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for all equipment, D.O.T records and other associated documents
- Support divisions for changing seasons (landscape and winter) by:
- Delivering or arranging the move of equipment and materials
- Upfitting new equipment for upcoming seasons
- Inspection, preventative maintenance and organization of equipment
- Installing and uninstalling seasonal truck setups such as brine units, salt spreaders, plows, dump body sides, leaf boxes, tarps, etc.
- Maintain an organized yard and shop daily
- Utilize LMN software to punch in and out of assigned tasks
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Experience in landscaping and/or snow removal (flexible based upon other qualifications)
- Technical aptitude toward vehicles and equipment used
- Pick-up and dump trucks
- Winter equipment - Skid steers, loaders, pushers and other attachments
- Landscape equipment – Mowers, trailers, blowers, trimmers, etc.
- Relevant industry certifications
- Flexible working hours including occasional weekend/night work and holidays.
