Outerspace is a new type of Ops Center. We come from the brand side and have built and led operations for companies like Steve Madden, Prada and Nice Laundry. We leverage the latest technology and our professional expertise to support our high growth brands and their daily operations. Outerspace provides a number of services including, but not limited to, warehousing and fulfillment, customization and light manufacturing, and product photography.
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team. Reporting to the Controller, you will be asked to provide accounting support and analysis in a fast-growing business environment. You will assist with performing complex general accounting functions including the creation and review of monthly journal entries, as well as balance sheet account reconciliations and analyzing balance sheet and P&L accounts. You will also be given the opportunity to make an impact on the Finance/Accounting Operations by assisting with process improvements and automation projects. In this position you will interface with all functions of our company and play a key role in ensuring our continued success.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for recording and reconciling all entries related to compensation (payroll, bonus, stock compensation, etc.)
- Review and prepare monthly capitalized software analyses such as payroll capitalization, external consulting expense capitalization and amortization
- Maintain intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and consolidations
- Evaluate accounting processes and identify opportunities to streamline and recommend solutions
- Key contributor to the month-end close process creating, maintaining, and updating rollforward schedules
- Manage vendor relationships and records, including setting up new vendors and responding to vendor inquiries
- Manage client accounts with the proper invoicing within standard policies reflective of company and client requirements, while assuring timely and accurate collections
- Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements, management and board reporting, and audit/tax returns
- Record cash receipts and disbursements, prepare bank and credit card reconciliations
- Enter accounts payable invoices into AP system, confirming G/L coding and investigating any discrepancies
- Assist with new and ongoing projects including forecasting/budget, financial system implementations and ad hoc projects.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Strong communication (written and verbal), analytical, and problem-solving skills required
- 3 years of corporate or startup accounting experience, with previous public accounting experience a plus, but not required
- CPA license or taking proactive steps to passing the CPA exam is preferred, but not required
- Proficiency in Excel is required (pivot tables, v-look ups, etc.). Ability to work with large data sets
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong knowledge in accounting ERP systems is a plus
- Cross collaborative - both internally across the organization (operations human resources) and externally
