Project Superintendent/Site Safety Health Officer.

Introduction:

Outside The Box, LLC is a General Contractor specializing in construction and renovation work for the federal government. We are planning for progressive growth over the next several years, and are looking for ambitious, high-caliber professionals to grow with our company. We are currently looking to hire a Superintendent/Site Safety Health Officer to work in the Augusta GA/ Aiken SC area with minimum 5-10 years Federal experience. Must be able to get clearance for federal projects. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated, highly responsible person with outstanding organizational and communication skills who can grow with the company. Reports To: Project Manager.
Grade/Level: High School.
Travel Required: Yes, as needed per project.
Work Schedule: Various.
Positions Supervised: Laborers, Sub Contractors.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Plan, direct and coordinate, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities and safety concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities and systems.
Ensure project quality control & employee safety through compliance with all corporate, local, provincial and federal workplace laws, rules and regulations. Responsible for avoidance reduction and control of costs associated with workplace accidents and injuries. Perform as an internal resource and consultant to management and supervision in identifying and alleviating workplace hazards.

Essential Functions Statement(s):
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
  • Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
  • Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
  • As a direct representative of the company you inspect and review projects in strict compliance with the contract drawings and specifications such as building and safety codes and other regulations.
  • Interpret and explain plans to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.
  • Inspect the work performed on a continual basis.
  • Direct and supervise workers.
  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
  • Oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as painting or plumbing.
  • Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects.
  • Prepare agendas for and conduct weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Prepare daily reports through web based project management system.
  • Prepare 3 week look ahead schedules.
  • Keep administrative staff, informed of projects progress, safety compliance issues and construction of deficiencies.
  • Develop and implement quality control and safety programs.
  • Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
  • Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans, using computers.
  • Maintain as-built drawings for all trades through completion of project.
  • Perform additional assignments as needed.
  • Provides needs assessment, safety training and development indicated.
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness and performance at company work sites.
  • Conducts weekly worksite safety inspections.
  • Investigates all incidents, accidents and near misses.
  • Responsible for overseeing compliance with all Corps of Engineers Safety Guidelines.
  • Administration in accordance with Corps of Engineers guidelines pertaining to company operations.
  • When possible, accompany Government inspectors on inspections at company work sites.
  • Recognize that subcontractors are the company’s responsibility when on our work sites.
  • Responsible for monitoring and enforcing safety compliance of subcontractors under the same standard of performance that is expected from OTB employees.
  • Travel to job sites is required.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
  • Direct testing activities throughout production cycles.
  • Monitor the performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Oversee workers including supervisors, inspector, or field workers engaged in construction activities.
  • Analyze quality control test results and provide feedback and interpretation to management or staff.
  • Communicate quality control information to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, or contractors.
  • Confer with marketing and sale departments to define client requirements and expectations.
  • Document testing procedures, methodologies, or criteria.
  • Identify quality problems or areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
  • Review quality documentation necessary for regulatory submissions and inspections.
  • Maintain and insure all employees and visitors adhere to the OTB Site Safety and Health Plan, Environmental Protection Plan, Accident Prevention Plan, Activity Hazard Analysis and Construction Quality Control Plan.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education:
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
Experience: 
  • Seven to ten years related experience. 
Computer Skills :
  • Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project.
Certificates & Licenses: 
  • USACE CQM Certification(preferred).
  • OSHA 30 Hour Certification.
