What are the responsibilities and job description for the Beertender position at Outsider Brewing?
This is a part-time role that will grow into a full-time position down the line. About half of the hours worked will be assisting in the brewhouse, the other half bartending. Outsider Brewing is looking for someone who is curious and excited about beer, brewing, and the ingredients that go into it. Qualifications
- Previous bartending/service industry experience required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Willingness to learn & passion for craft beer
- Brewing experience preferred, but not required
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
Responsibilities:
Brewing:
- Follow brewhouse SOPs and commit to sanitation and cleanliness standards in the production area.
- Assist the brewer in daily tasks including cleaning of tanks and vessels, testing fermentation, running the brewhouse, managing yeast, and managing inventory.
- Be a resource for customers as they enjoy the taproom and production hybrid space by answering questions and engaging the customer with the brewing process.
- Prepare to learn on your way to becoming an independent and self-driven member of a small team that relies on each other to maintain a community around a common craft workspace.
Bartending:
- Serve customers in a timely manner that meets/exceeds their expectations
- Make connections and form relationships with patrons
- Educate guests on our beer portfolio and brand history, as well as our company culture
- Guide patrons in selecting Outsider beers, using beer style and flavor knowledge to offer product based on guest interactions
- Handle complaints and/or concerns of guests promptly and tactfully. This includes providing updates to the Taproom Manager and/or including when appropriately
- Ensure lawful compliance and safety by making sure all customers consuming alcohol are of legal drinking age
- Follow alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication and dealing with intoxicated guests
- Set up and clean up taproom operations and special events thoroughly and keep robust clean logs daily
- Maintain clean glassware through proper wash, rinse, and sanitize techniques
- Stock beer and retail merchandise in the taproom
- Stand and walk around the brewery for extended periods (e.g., 6 hours) at a time regularly
- Perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists frequently including, but not limited to, grasping, pulling, and reaching
- Work in a team-oriented and customer-centric environment
- Work in relatively confined spaces and tight congested areas
- Assist the Taproom Manager with tracking sales and maintaining inventory, as well as identifying discrepancies or shortages
- Ensure the point-of-sale and draft systems are operating optimally at all times
- Must be able to work weekends and some holidays
Benefits
- Bartending Wage: $10/hour plus tips
- Hourly rate for Production: $17/hour
- Paid holidays: Christmas Day, Thanksgiving, and New Years Day
- Monthly stipend towards health insurance once position becomes full-time
