Summary:
OWCAP is seeking individuals who are outgoing, people oriented and enjoys the opportunity to interact with others. Under the supervision of the Housing Services Specialist, the Housing Outreach Worker position will screen rental assistance applicants for eligibility and service needs. This includes but is not limited to: answering questions, providing support, and making referrals as appropriate. This position may work evenings and weekends to meet community demand. Must maintain full compliance with awarded funding sources, including but not limited to private, federal, state, and local governments. This position will require an effective communicator who pays attention to detail and is responsive to the needs of clients. Work will be fast-paced and each day will be different.

Starting Pay Range - $16.00 – $18.24

What you will do as our Housing Outreach Worker:
- Responsible for processing and approving or denying rental assistance applications.
- Determine participant eligibility through the intake process following current eligibility requirements from funding sources.
- Verify receipt of required documentation
- Direct communication with applicant and landlord via phone, email, or in-person meetings
- Submit rental payment requests on behalf of the tenant.
- Provide comprehensive case management addressing issues related to COVID 19.
- Connect participants with internal and community resources that assist them in achieving goals set out in their case management plan.
- Provide customer service by answering phone calls and emails, answering questions, providing support, and determining eligibility.
- Communicate with landlords to determine rental assistance needs and obtain required documentation.
- Enter participant’s application, service information, and notes into database. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite and be able to navigate multiple database systems quickly.
- Complete and submit paperwork as outlined by program requirements.
- Follow all confidentiality guidelines for participants.
- Help prepare reports in accordance with programmatic needs, state, local, and agency guidelines and in a timely manner.
- Work towards developing an extensive knowledge of social services and community resources for participants.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required.
What you need to be our Housing Outreach Worker:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Business, Social Work or related field preferred.
- 2 or more years related experience preferred.
- Must be proficient in Outlook 365, as well as various internet and computer applications.
- Bilingual English/Spanish Speakers will be given priority.
