Job Description Summary
The School of STEM invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Computer Information Systems department with primary teaching responsibilities in the areas of computer networking, computer programming / development, cyber security, and computer systems support. Specifically, this position will be responsible for teaching computer technology classes covering computer programming, networking, support, and security; and may at times include teaching classes in the Microsoft Office productivity suite of software products as well as basic computer competencies. Experience in Computer Information Systems/Information Technology above an entry level is required. Applicants must possess expertise in some of the following: computer hardware, VB, C#, HTML, CSS, Java, JavaScript, Python, Android Studio, Cloud Computing, SQL, CSS, Networking, Cyber Security, and IT Project Management. Teaching load is 15 hours per term with the possibility of teaching summer and overload when available.
Knowledge
Teaching in a hands-on computer classroom and in a web-based environment. Teaching Computer Information Systems courses (introductory through advanced) in some of the following areas: computer hardware, VB, C#, HTML, CSS, Java, JavaScript, Python, Android Studio, Cloud Computing, SQL, CSS, Networking, Microsoft Server, Cisco, Cyber Security, IT Project Management, and Microsoft Office 365.
Skills
Excellent organization and communication skills. Up to date technical skill in IT. Possess teaching experience in higher education, preferably in a two-year degree granting institution for at least 2 years. Experience teaching both traditional on ground as well as in an online environment. Experience using an LMS, Blackboard preferred.
Abilities
Participate in professional development (discipline specific and teaching). Serve on committees and project teams within the department, the school of STEM, and at the college level in pursuing the institution’s strategic planning priorities. Equivalent of two (2) semesters of full-time teaching experience. Part time teaching that equates to four (4) semesters may also be considered. Possess teaching experience in IT and higher education, preferably in a regionally accredited two-year granting institution. Additionally, two years (2) IT professional experience preferred.
The teaching should be related to Computer Information Systems Technology or closely related field.
