PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Aviation Leader – Chief Maintenance is accountable for the overall inspection and determination of the airworthiness of aircraft, aircraft systems, equipment, and parts in compliance with specifications and applicable government regulations. This role leads the maintenance department and is accountable for establishing and maintaining maintenance procedures and policies to comply with FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), aircraft, engine manufacturers, and Owens Corning directives.

Span of Control: Leader of team; estimated 4 to 6 direct reports
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Knowing the Customer
Maintain effective communications and relationships with flight department, and stakeholders, including others within the company with aviation business interest related to corporate aircraft travel and safety.
Setting and Executing Strategy
Leads the team with a clear vision and compliance; leads organization to develop and implement strategies to align with the Company and FAA/regulatory agencies’ industry requirements. Continues to foster a deep understanding of aviation safety, to include the key requirements in the industry. Keeps a forward looking, long term, view of key trends and activities which could significantly impact Owens Corning.
Directing Operations
Responsible for ensuring all activities adhere to the Company, FAA, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies’ industry, guidelines, accountable for the following:
- Work with organization to maintain a safety culture with efficient procedures
- Monitor and advise on all activities that may have an impact on flight safety
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance with Aircraft Dispatcher to ensure aircraft availability
- Analyze and evaluate effectiveness in the procurement of aircraft parts, supplies, and services
- Establish maintenance department procedures and resources required to maintain maximum dispatch rates of aircraft
- Develop and maintain maintenance training program
- Assists Director, Aviation with annual budget planning, and evaluation of new aircraft, support equipment, and parts allocation
- Ensure all aircraft log books (airframe, engine, and others) are maintained according to requirements, and computerized maintenance tracking system is kept current
- In partnership with the Chief Safety Officer, develop, implement, and maintain, a safety training schedule to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations
- Maintain hangar and ground support equipment to ensure regulatory compliance
- Leads contract maintenance process
- Active in performing maintenance, as needed, during all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities
- Designated trainer for flight crews to lead appropriate required training of servicing, preventative maintenance preflight inspections, and governing FAA for they aircraft being operated
Leading across the Enterprise
- Leverage partnership with leaders across the department and Owens Corning to maximize safe operation and performance, lead and support change, and focus on the development of talent capabilities, specifically in aviation maintenance and safety
- Share best practices across Owens Corning Aviation function
- Engaged in personal development while maintaining personal technical knowledge and expertise in the maintenance function of aviation
- Partners with other business and industry leaders in driving performance throughout the function by recognizing needs and coaching effectively

JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma, or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Airframe, Powerplant, and Inspection Authorization certificates, per Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) part 65, subpart D
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience as Airframe and Powerplant Technician
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Corporate Aviation experience
- Extensive operational experience
- Graduate of an approved Aviation Safety Course
- Experience influencing and coordinating within a matrix environment
- Demonstrated rigor in execution, and ability to work with all levels in the organization
- Experience working with internal and external stakeholders
- Budget management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to successfully complete formal training and keep current in equipment technologies
- Demonstrates knowledge with respect to the operation of a Flight Department and the content of the Flight Operations Manual
- Extensive knowledge of Owens Corning aircraft, service centers, overhaul facilities and technical representatives
- Ability to carry out the duties and responsibilities to ensure safety, and lead others with zero incident
