Our organization is currently looking to hire one or two dynamic individuals in the Grand Island/Kearney/Hastings area who has experience working with high-risk juveniles.
This is not a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. desk job. The majority of the time will be spent in the community: in homes, schools, and local agencies. Successful candidate must be comfortable and willing to work nontraditional hours and be able to respond to crisis situations as needed.
A reliable vehicle is required as travel is involved.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Community Youth Coaches provide supervision, oversight and guidance to youth on their caseload. The level of supervision varies depending on the youth's risk assessment and other identified needs by their Probation Officer. Supervision includes face-to-face contacts, curfew checks, monitoring of school attendance and performance, employment obligations and compliance with other court-ordered expectations.
This position may at times also assist with Electronic Monitoring coverage for the primary EM Officer.
This is highly responsible professional work providing maximum supervision to juvenile offenders placed on electronic monitoring and referred by Probation.
ELECTRONIC MONITORING ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Conducts intakes on all offenders referred to the electronic monitoring program.
Installs/hooks up equipment in the offenders home or other community location
Responds to all alerts either by phone or in person based on the severity of the alert/violation
Reports compliance/non-compliance to the appropriate referral source.
Inputs data into the Probation Portal information system on a daily basis
Tracks program inventory. Orders, returns and is accountable for equipment.
Works effectively with agency team members, Probation, Law Enforcement, the courts and the youth's family.
Ensures operational procedures are adhered to at all times
COMMUNITY YOUTH COACH DUTIES
Community Youth Coaches (CYC) provide services to youth who are involved in the court system and Juvenile Probation. In supporting the program guidelines, CYC Staff:

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in the Human Services Field and/or Equivalent Work, Education & Life Experience. Bilingual a plus.
Own reliable vehicle with a clear driving record (no more than 3 points assessed against your license).
Ability to pass a thorough background check including but not limited to:
Ability to work non-traditional hours and days. Our organization is open 7 days per week and team members must have the flexibility to work evenings and weekends and respond to crisis situations.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
CPR/First-Aide Certified
Ability to type at least 55 wpm and excellent computer skills.
Passionate, objective and non-judgmental disposition.
