Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Manage coordination of cohesive, written and visual content and storytelling narratives that work across multiple digital mediums to raise awareness of Oxfam issues and engage supporters to fight inequality to end poverty and injustice. Create written and visual content. Manage organizational Asana email calendar based on input from consultants and colleagues.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate the content needed for our email, organic social media, and paid media programs. This includes assessing content needs, identifying gaps, and communicating requests clearly to the appropriate content gatherers, in close collaboration with digital staff and agency.
  • In collaboration with content and design staff, create impactful stories and content for use across digital channels to advance the organization’s brand, revenue, and advocacy goals. Run content through review processes.
  • Assists social media specialist in the creation of content for organic social channels.
  • Craft digital-first, short-form messaging and calls-to-action from long-form media publications, reports, and complex research for digital fundraising, campaign, and rapid response moments. Assist in developing messaging guides as needed.
  • Draft action alerts to help recruit new supporters into the organization.
  • Set up projects and assign content-related tasks and deadlines to staff and consultants using Asana project management tool.
  • Manage the organizational Asana calendar of emails including fielding incoming requests, coordinating with digital agency and team members, updating Asana calendar, and communicating back with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with public engagement; alliances, advocacy, and policy team; and other digital team members to ensure effective implementation of digital strategies across channels.
  • As needed, track data related to digital branding, fundraising, advocacy efforts to assist in performance analysis and reporting.
  • Assist in other digital team tasks as needed to raise awareness about Oxfam America, our issues, and campaigns and engage supporters in our work.

  • Occasional domestic travel

Qualifications

  • Some college or advanced studies preferred, or a combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience developing creative, digital content and stories that achieve organizational goals.
  • Strong project management skills and experience using project management software.
  • Strong writing skills and experience developing compelling content that drives engagement.
  • Strategically creative with good visual design aesthetic.
  • Ability to distill complex issues into simple messages that resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop and Canva.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize workload and multi-task.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical staff.
  • Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Collaborative work style to effectively work within cross functional teams to deliver high-quality digital communications on schedule.
  • Passion for communication as a means to fight Inequality to end poverty and injustice.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and experience with communicating social justice issues for awareness-building, advocacy, and/or fundraising.

Additional Information

Exempt Boston Union E - Salary Range - $62,000 -70,000

For internal equity, Oxfam America cannot engage in salary negotiations outside of this range.
