What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at Oxford Athletic Club?
Oxford Athletic Club is the most extensive private health and fitness club in the Pittsburgh area and is nationally recognized by International Health, Racquet, and Sports Associations (IHRSA) for excellence. We are seeking dependable and energetic individuals interested in being a part of our organization.
Hiring immediately for new, experienced, and both certified and wanting-to-become-certified lifeguards. We will be holding a class on May 19th and 20th for anyone interested in lifeguarding, but do not yet have their certification. Certification must be obtained before hire date.
The purpose of this job is to scan the pool areas continually to make sure all patrons are safe, enforcing all rules of the pool and hot tub, maintaining a safe and orderly environment, checking chemicals on a regular basis ensuring they are at safe levels.
*In addition to the hourly wage, employees will have access to a complimentary employee membership at the exclusive, members only Club (valued at over $1,000)
*Start Date: May 1
Job Duties:
1. Comes to work in proper uniform as per the current uniform policy: a red lifeguard bathing suit and or/shirt.
2. Works according to the club wide job description that states: Everyone’s job is identical; we all must work together “To Get and Keep Members”.
3. Exhibits a “Member Friendly and Member First” mentality and ‘actions without excuses’.
4. Answers telephone promptly with appropriate greeting
>Greets all members who enter pool area
>Maintains a visible presence at all times during shift
5. Provides a high level of personalized attention to members. Staff on duty should be constantly monitoring the area and making eye contact with members. Smile!
6. Provides basic instruction on use of facility equipment.
7. Completes all assigned cleaning duties and cleans other areas as needed.
8. Keeps area stocked with paper towels and cleaning spray
9. Assists with and promotes special events and programs to the Club Membership by keeping current with Club events, flyers and meeting information.
10. Resolves any Member issues through effective customer service skills and by referring issue to the appropriate manager. Contact Manager on Duty (MOD) if unsure of how to resolve a situation.
11. Enforces current OAC Club and departmental policies by keeping current with changes and utilizing effective communication skills.
12. Performs first aid and emergency responder techniques by maintaining CPR/AED and First Aid Certification. Must be aware of appropriate emergency response.
13. Attends scheduled departmental meetings and educational training sessions.
14. Supports supervisors and fellow staff in providing quality programs and services to our Members as well as incorporating an atmosphere where we are constantly striving to exceed one’s expectations.
15. Completes all other tasks as assigned by Department Manager, Director, or Club Managers.
Education & Training:
>Lifeguard Certification, or willingness to become certified (Must be at least 15 years of age)
>In-house training on policies and procedure as provided by management
Work Experience: None.
Skills & Abilities:
Must be energetic, enthusiastic and pleasant. Must exhibit a professional manner, discretion, and professional appearance. Excellent verbal / written communication and promotional skills are necessary.
