The primary function is to inspect and supervise the Housekeeping Staff, rooms and public areas ensuring that all procedures are completed to the established standards. This person will assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Inspect public areas/bathrooms, guest rooms, guest corridors, elevator foyer area, vending area, service area including linen closet, staff restroom and storage area.
  • Report any deficiencies and assign personnel to correct the situation
  • Supervise staff in the performance of all daily procedures to ensure they are performed to standards
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards
  • Prepare and distribute assignment sheets to assigned staff and review priorities
  • Oversee the daily assignment of duties, ensuring Room Attendants and House Attendants carry a work assignment
  • Assist staff with their job functions where needed to ensure optimum cleanliness and service standards for guests
  • Monitor Room Attendants and House Person’s performance.
  • Provide organization, instruction, guidance, communication as well as exercise good judgment, while reinforcing high standards quality
  • Insure all jobs are completed within the shift; make sure all sections are covered
  • Check for early make-ups, special requests and VIP’s
  • Assist in conducting linen inventories monthly
  • Provide assistance to the Housekeeping management team
  • Immediately report any broken door locks or safety hazards to management for immediate attention.
  • Monitor Housekeeping staff meal breaks
  • Must carry a radio all the times
  • Call in ready rooms to the Housekeeping Department, enter room status through the phone system • Maintain key control • Handle items for "Lost and Found" according to the standards
  • Monitor cleanliness and orderliness of Room Attendants’ carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways, and landings
  • Report on the progress of all out-of-order rooms under the Housekeeping Department's supervision • Initiate work orders for repairs and maintenance and forward them to Engineering. Follow through on each work order until completed
  • Assist with training of Housekeeping staff
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction Specific experience we're seeking
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and chemical handling, requirements, and use of equipment
  • Compute mathematical calculations
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data
  • Ability to ascertain departmental training needs and provide such training
  • Ability to direct performance of staff and follow up with corrections when needed
  • Ability to input and access information in the property management system/computers
  • Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Two to three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred. High School diploma or equivalent required. College course work in related field helpful.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with other business departments, guests, and vendors. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism. Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal. (Fluency in Spanish or Cantonese is a plus)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or telephone. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand during entire shift. (Please note management reserves the right to change, modify, and/or alter any of the duties listed above to meet business demands

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.07 - $22.50 per hour
