Requisition Summary
The Commodity Manager of Advanced Vehicle Systems role includes the procurement of vehicle-related hardware or software and is responsible for partnering with and supporting internal business units, functional groups, and associated stakeholders while executing strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier relationship management initiatives.
Responsibilities include the negotiation and management of all aspects of PACCAR’s commercial relationship with the assigned group of advanced vehicle technology suppliers. This includes contractual requirements with respect to quality, technology, delivery, customer service, aftermarket support, logistics and total cost. Will have a significant role in PACCAR’s development of connected, autonomous, hybrid and electric vehicles. Commodity Managers are change agents, focused on delivering the highest value to internal and external customers at the lowest total cost.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in maximum PACCAR value through key supplier selection, enhanced product quality, innovative technology, and improved supply chain performance.
- Investigate and implement new technologies related to autonomous vehicles and electrification.
- Investigate and implement new procurement strategies and logistical opportunities.
- Issue formal Requests for Information/Proposal/Quote (RFI’s, RFP’s, and RFQ’s), analyze supplier responses, and select suppliers that meet or exceed PACCAR’s requirements.
- Negotiate letter of award, long-term supply, development, proof-of-concept, and warranty agreements.
- Collaborate with PACCAR personnel/operations worldwide to successfully develop and execute global supply-chain, commodity, and technology strategies.
- Communicate and conduct meetings and formal presentations with suppliers, plant, and division personnel at all management levels.
- Travel to supplier locations to evaluate capabilities, assess production readiness, investigate new opportunities, improve manufacturing efficiencies, and resolve chronic supply and quality issues.
- Travel to PACCAR’s global operating locations in support of the above activities.
- Provide Purchasing support to Internal Stakeholders and be the focal for Purchasing for assigned commodities
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing, marketing, engineering, materials, or related PACCAR experience
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, electronics, electrification, or related fields
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Creative, quality and results-driven work ethic
- Proven negotiation and strong analytical skills
- Strong PC skills (Excel, Word, Access, & PowerPoint)
- Experience with electronics, electrification, or related fields a plus
- Project team participation and/or project management
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field required, MBA preferred
