The Public Relations manager is responsible for Kenworth Truck Company’s brand image in digital and print media, often serving as the face of the brand to press and other external agencies. The PR manager provides media relations support, including writing press releases, developing social media content, working with client and media contacts, and building relationships with trucking trade and local press. PR is a vital part of sharing and promoting Kenworth’s products, technology, and people. We are seeking a highly motivated professional with hybrid skills combining strong written and verbal communication with digital systems proficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement public relations strategies and campaigns
- Collaborate with Product Marketing Managers to develop public relations strategies for current products, new product launches, and promotions
- Serve as a member of the content development team responsible for relevant and compelling social media, and website/app updates with links to products or promotions
- Manage, oversee and coordinate activities with company’s outside public relations firm
- Coordinate with outside firm on publishing for Kenworth digital and print magazine
- Develop and produce well-researched, high-quality, informative, and interesting press releases, press kits, and related materials to support Kenworth and business partners
- Proofread and edit marketing collateral materials, when needed
- Build and maintain good relationships with the media and industry editors
- Serve as a public face of the company to industry publications
- Organize promotional events, press conferences, editor test drive events, facility tours, visits, and exhibitions
- Analyze media coverage and developing responses when needed
- Stay current on market trends and competitive activity
- Manage PR budgets, deadlines, objectives, and schedules
- Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual media activity reports
- Support, develop and commission market research as needed
- Respond to requests for information from the media
- Draft scripts and speeches and schedule executive interviews with media when necessary
- Evaluate advertising campaigns to ensure alignment with organization’s public relation efforts
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, business, or related field required, Masters degree a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong copywriting and content creation skills
- Candidate must be capable of presenting sales and marketing initiatives to the leadership team
- Excellent computer and digital systems skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Positive, motivated, and efficient time management
- Able to multitask and monitor multiple projects
- Able to work well under pressure
- Professional and confident public speaker
- Confident presentation skills and attention to detail
- Takes initiative to develop new strategies and outside-the-box ideas for digital and social media content

The salary range for the Public Relations Manager is $89,900-$140,600 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
