Job Summary
Reporting to the Contract Manager, the Sustainability Associate is responsible for supporting and expanding all sustainability efforts for the organization; identifying new ways to forge partnerships with existing/new suppliers/vendors; evaluating vendor’s performance against clearly defined metrics; and balancing priorities of the organization and our vendors to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes while driving sustainability, efficiency, reducing risk and costs for the organization. The Sustainability Associate will also support the Contract Manager in measuring quality, impact, cost and monitoring contract compliance.
Responsibilities

  • Research the latest trends, practices and news related to sustainability and present options to management using a return-on-investment rubric.
  • Maintain working knowledge of best practices and industry trends to facilitate future sustainability initiatives.
  • Develop sustainability project goals and initiatives for PACE, as part of the strategic plan.
  • Devise innovative ways to incorporate sustainability into PACE operations and work with operations staff to implement such initiatives.
  • Monitor PACE’s data related to environmental initiatives and recommended adjustments; produce reports as needed for quality and risk.
  • Proposes and implements strategies to address various environmental concerns including energy use, conservation, recycling, building and facility design, and general education on sustainability.
  • Source vendors that abide by PACE sustainability procurement guidelines.
  • Coordinate with the Education & Research Associate to educate employees on environmental challenges and ways they can practice sustainability, such as recycling or minimizing energy usage.
  • Establish key internal sustainability metrics and utilize them to monitor and improve performance against business objectives and to make informed business decisions. Use metrics to assess quality and present on results at Risk Committee and/or Quality Committee.
  • Manage all aspects of the relationship with qualified suppliers for RFPs and RFQs on sustainability and specific sustainability projects by managing the competitive bidding process.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives that positively impact participants, stakeholders, and the team.
  • Oversee the central ordering system which includes tracking of equipment, replacements and assignment of new or replaced items.
  • Assist contract manager with contract oversight and analysis (e.g., researching new vendors, audits, contract compliance).
  • Ability to learn, utilize, and train others on the DME asset management software system.
  • Able to read, comprehend and edit contracts in cooperation with Contract Manager.
  • Addresses vendor complaints/concerns in a timely manner/ resolves issues between vendors and PACE as needed; maintains reports for risk management on issues; knows how to initiate a report if contract violation occurs.
  • Network with related professionals to learn and expand impact within PACE.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Education Requirement
Bachelor’s Degree, Required (coursework in Sustainability, preferred)
Physical Requirement
Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and at times up to 20 pounds.
Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization's physical premises as well as related community care settings.
Must be able to tolerate conditions typically associated within a medical office and/or home care setting including potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.
Must be able to navigate a variety of settings as needed to identify environmental sustainability issues and solutions.
