What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grants Administrator, Dyson/SOE position at Pace University?

The Grant Administrator will independently perform pre- and post-award administrative duties related to sponsored projects.
The Administrator will understand and interpret guidelines, rules, and regulations, and analyze policies and procedures relevant to grant funding agencies and foundations for Dyson and SOE.
This position will ensure compliance with federal, state, and all agency or foundation cost-accounting standards related to research activities, including timely submission of financial and research reports, in collaboration with the respective Principal Investigators.

Position Duties
  • Counsel faculty during the pre-and post-award process for externally funded research projects conducting the budgeting and accounting activities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and the policies and procedures of Pace University as well as compliance with sponsoring agencies’ rules and regulations.
  • Prepare and review information required for research proposals, including preparation of budgets and assistance in the preparation of proposal documentation following agency requirements. Work with the Office of Sponsored Programs (or the Development Office, when requested) to submit proposals, track research proposal information and assist in grant/contract negotiations.
  • Prepare, review, and ensure accuracy of various expenditures on monthly accounting reports for principal investigators/responsible persons for grant and grant match funds.
  • Assist in conflict resolution with grants and contracts business activities to identify and resolve problems, including for purchasing and hiring processes. Use independent judgment to facilitate activity with all parties.
  • Generate regular reports related to grants and contracts for researchers, departmental managers, constituents, governmental agencies, and management. Research and analyze information and data.
  • Review progress reports and monitor faculty effort to ensure compliance with policies and make recommendations.
  • Monitor and approve the use of grant funds for employee requests.
  • Monitor the administration of sub-award agreements and payment processing on research projects.
  • Work with various offices, including the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Administration and the Grant Budget Office to prepare and track research proposals, assist in grant/contract negotiations and post-award administration, including all reporting and close-out activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of materials for audit purposes and respond to audit findings. Maintain required documents per university requirements.
  • Serve as a College liaison to Grants budget office.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the information reported in Banner.
  • Performs other such duties as assigned from time to time.

Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a field related to the position preferred.
  • At least two years of experience with grants and contracts administration, preferred.

Work Hours
Monday – Friday 9am-5pm; additional hours may be required at times, e.g., for meeting tight deadlines.

Salary Range
$60k - $70k
