JOB DESCRIPTION:
The staff MRI technologist will perform required diagnostic MRI scanning procedures with knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent high quality examinations. Review patient MRI screening information relating to safety, clinical history and previous imaging. Position the patient and explain the MRI exam. Follow established imaging and PACs protocol. Review images and all related paperwork for completeness and accuracy. These functions are to be exercised according to established company policy and procedure.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Working knowledge applicable to MRI scanning technology with specific references to cross-sectional anatomy, medical and surgical disease and scientific principles as applied to MRI scanning. Ability to identify disease abnormalities and physiological processes while performing MRI scans. Patient care standards and requirements. ACR quality assurance principles and practices. Customer service principles and practices. PACS and QC coordinating and troubleshooting.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Associates or Applied Science Degree in related field, or equivalent work experience. Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT). CPR certification.
Skills and Abilities: Operate MR scanner and ancillary equipment. Schedule, organize and monitor patient flow to meet company productivity, quality, health and safety standards. Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and co-workers. Venipuncture Certification (where applicable). Maintain the confidentiality of patient records and complete administrative records and reports. Schedule, organize and complete work in accordance with required workloads. Read, interpret and follow specifications and instructions. Ability to react calmly and effectively in the event of an emergency. Capable of maintaining basic life support (CPR).
Certification:
Radiology Technologist and/or MRI Technlogist ARRT or MRI Technologist ARMRIT Certification
CPR Certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: .Moderate amount of lifting and positioning of patients and equipment; stand for long periods of time. Position requires ability to constantly lift objects heavier than 30 pounds, perform difficult manipulative skills, walk and stand for prolonged periods. Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for 5 to 30 minutes at a time. Individuals must be able to understand and relate theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given to self and others over long periods of time.
HOURS: MRI Technologist shifts are 4/10-hour work days, with variations in starting time and days scheduled. Hours of operation are 6 am - 6 pm Monday - Friday
