Position Summary
Pacific Shipyards is searching for a Port Engineer and Dry Dock Master to manage the operational readiness and maintenance of Pacific Shipyards’ two floating dry docks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct all docking and undocking evolutions
  • Overseeing and creating docking plans for vessel dockings
  • Maintain accurate records and files for each docking
  • Support and/or manage each drydock period to ensure proper services and support is delivered from the drydock
  • Establish and maintain dock maintenance to ensure to appropriate regulatory standards compliance
  • Create and maintain drydock operation and maintenance budgets
  • Provide training for drydock team members to ensure safe and efficient docking evolutions

Education/Training:
  • High School, Marine Engineering, Marine Transportation, or related degree/ experience preferred.
  • Proficient in vessel maneuvering and communication with ships captains, tugs, pilots
  • Understanding and applied knowledge of Principles of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
  • Knowledge and experience with industrial marine maintenance to include structural, mechanical, electrical and preservation, and related shipboard systems
  • NAVSEA, Navy Docking Officer, or Commercial Dockmaster Certification Preferred.  Relevant Shipboard experience will be considered.
  • Understanding of general ship repair
  • Must be excellent in Microsoft applications, specifically Project and Excel
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a team player!

Qualification/Requirements:
  • Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
  • Requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
  • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a valid State of Hawaii driver’s license
  • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites
  • Must be flexible in work hours
  • Must be capable of climbing ladders and accessing ships
