Position Overview: Design, develop, and implement data-driven solutions using machine learning technologies and advanced statistical analyses to assist PacificSource in achieving the goals and initiatives identified in our Strategic Plan. Utilize passion for finding insights, ability to work with large and fragmented data sets, and command of analytic tools to orchestrate solutions that deliver greater value to our members, provider partners and other internal and external stakeholders. Effectively interpret and communicate strategic results to varied audiences, and provide analytic support for companywide process and operational improvement efforts. Essential Responsibilities: Research, design, develop, and implement data driven solutions using machine learning technologies and advanced statistical methods. Apply mastery of mixed methodologies: Strong understanding of advanced analytics (e.g., statistics, simulation, and optimization) and methods such as time series analysis, longitudinal studies, and life event modeling to develop analytics solutions. Work as a key part of cross-functional teams with various internal customer groups to study quantified business cases, identify business problems and formulate desired outcomes. Assess existing and identify new sources of data relevant to the problems being investigated, apply statistical data quality procedures to new data sources. Generate and test working hypotheses: aggregate and mine data, conduct analyses, and extract actionable results. Prepare and present both regular and ad-hoc analysis to internal decision-making audiences, often creating novel and innovative business metrics to inform and influence senior leadership as well as external stakeholders and partners. Understand and leverage industry performance trends and their potential effect on performance. Develop models and processes to capitalize on industry and market inefficiencies Clean, aggregate, and pre-process data from varied sources. Create complex SQL queries for standard as well as ad hoc data mining purposes. Supporting Responsibilities: Meet department and company performance and attendance expectations. Follow the PacificSource privacy policy and HIPAA laws and regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected health information. Perform other duties as assigned. SUCCESS PROFILE Work Experience: Two years’ relevant quantitative and qualitative research and analytics experience required. Two years’ experience with big data, database query and analysis languages (e.g. Python, SQL, R, SAS, Azure DataBricks) and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) required. Education, Certificates, Licenses: Master's or PhD degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Pubic Health or similar research related field required. Knowledge: Possessing the ability to think creatively and demonstrate analytical skills, analyzing complex situations both alone and as part of a team, learning quickly and synthesizing solutions, options and action plans. Demonstrable knowledge of, and practical experience applying, data mining methodologies, natural language processing, and machine learning algorithms (e.g. regression, clustering, neural networks, kernel methods, dimensionality reduction, ensemble methods, decision tree methods). Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret qualitative data (research, feedback) and incorporate such insights into quantitative analyses. Practical ability to visualize data and analytical results Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with a broad array of internal and external contacts. Familiarity with retail, e-commerce, or financial analytics, including approaches such as life event modeling, customer lifetime value preferred. Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
