Summary:
 
The Director, Spine HCP Marketing for Exparel is responsible for defining, developing, and implementing effective marketing strategies into the Spine market. You will work closely with other marketers and across functions to create documents that outline the commercial vision, goals, and tactics for the spine business. These documents include the strategic plan, the annual marketing plan, and strategic marketing initiatives. This position requires a skillset strong in communication and analytics, as responsibilities include consistent communication to the salesforce along with working closely with sales Operations and Analytics.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other duties may be assigned.
  • The Director, Spine HCP Marketing is the Spine market and Brand expert who sets strategic direction and ensures execution for portfolio growth through development and execution of marketing campaigns and strategies, portfolio development, internal and external education strategies, and customer engagement campaigns.
  • In alignment with the global brand strategy, set annual and long-range Spine strategy to achieve required growth, profit and market share targets.
  • Create/distribute scalable assets, tools, marketing campaigns and best practices which can be localized for maximum impact.
  • Identify education, brand experience and customer engagement opportunities for both internal and external audiences to increase brand perception and value in collaboration with Medical Education Partner.
  • Develop trust and build strong relationships with sales professionals, internal stakeholders, and key customers (KOL).
  • Take the lead in developing KOL’s for the Spine market. Manage KOL relationships.
  • Provide analysis of business performance, brand perception, and other drivers of future brand performance. Define mitigating actions to deliver on strategy. Share marketing intelligence and information with the team. Coach others on the market positioning and strengths/weaknesses of key competitors.
  • In partnership with Commercial and medical Learning & Development, identify internal training needs and create relevant content and training programs.
  • Collaborate and influence others on cross-functional teams, advancing partnerships to achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrate financial acumen. Track and manage budgets, forecasts, and assumptions.
  • Work with Analytics team on data collection, analysis, and reporting tools for the Spine Business.
  • Manage all relevant Spine Conferences and events.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct reports.
Interaction:
 
Will work closely with employees in Marketing, Sales, Sales Operations, Medical Education, Medical Affairs, Learning & Development. Clinical, as well as with external constituents and customers.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university, MBA preferred.
  • 10 years of work experience required.
  • 8 years of pharmaceutical or Orthopedics industry marketing required.
  • 2 years of people management experience preferred.
  • Sales experience in pharmaceutical or Orthopedics industry preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written English communications skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 40%.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, move between spaces, reach with hands and arms and stoop. This position requires considerable hospital presence and requires the ability to walk and stand for periods of time and to navigate through hospitals, surgical centers, and other healthcare facilities, including ORs.
The employee is regularly required to travel by automobile as well as by airplane and other forms of public transportation. The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time (up to several hours straight). The employee will be required to move quickly in OR and other hospital environments.
