PACIV, an international control systems integration and regulatory compliance engineering firm, servicing Bio-Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Medical Devices, Food & Beverage and Water/Wastewater clients, is looking for a full-time Field Automation Engineer team member for our USA office (Indianapolis).
Job Description:
The Field Automation Engineer will be responsible for front-line manufacturing support, troubleshooting, and the implementation of industrial automation solutions, specifically in the utility and life sciences industries. These support services will be performed working within the client’s manufacturing and automation department team(s).
Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Troubleshooting - Aid project team in the day-to-day, front-line automation support by providing technical guidance and troubleshooting solutions for the Process and Operations teams by identifying root causes of automation and process issues.
- Continuous Improvement - Provide ongoing solutions and continuous improvement for automated equipment and process control systems.
- Software Design and Implementation - Complete minor Automation capital projects and implement software code changes.
- Documentation and Validation - Help create and/or execute Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) documentation (i.e. Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation documents) for automated Equipment and Systems.
- Off-shift Support – When necessary, be available for on-call support for the Operations group for any unplanned events or troubleshooting required on nights and weekends.
- Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience. Preferred degrees: Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or similar.
- Minimum of two (2) years of automation experience.
Desired Hard Skill Sets:
- Familiarity with processes within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and utility industries.
- Experience in authoring PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications.
- Hands-on troubleshooting of DCS, PLC, HMI, SCADA, VFD, and electrical control circuits.
- Experience with Allen Bradley (RSLogix5/500/5000, Studio5000), iFix, WonderWare, DeltaV, Siemens S7, Omron.
- Experience with industrial communication networks (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Modbus, BACNet, DH , Profibus, ProfiNet).
- Comprehensive understanding of process control systems-related documentation (e.g., P&IDs, URS, FS, DS).
- Knowledge of Data Historian (OSIPI).
- Understanding and application of the Commissioning and Qualification principles and the Computer. System Validation lifecycle and how they are subjected to FDA regulatory requirements.
- Application of electrical standards (NFPA 70E, UL508A, UL698, EIC, JIC, CE, ATEC).
- Knowledge of S88 Standard; Configuration experience with FactoryTalk Batch and/or DeltaV Batch desired.

Other Requirements:

• Travel: Up to 10% of the time to various suppliers, collaborators, and client sites outside of Indianapolis
