Mechanical Inspector – JFK International Airport
PACO Group, Inc. (PACO) is looking for a Mechanical Inspector for a position at the John F. Kennedy International Airport.
POSITION – Mechanical Inspector, starting immediately.
LOCATION – Reporting to the Resident Engineers, at the John F. Kennedy International Airport Resident Engineer’s Office. SCOPE - Primarily supervising and managing field work for the rehabilitation or replacement of various HVAC systems (including but not limited to boilers, chillers, ductless systems, and roof-top units), underground and aboveground watermains and associated appurtenances, stormwater drainage collection facilities, and other mechanical systems located through the airport for Port Authority
Tenant Alteration projects.
REQUIREMENTS – Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, verbal communication includes contract staff, Resident Engineer, facility staff and multiple airport stake holders both in person and via two- way communications. Ability to conduct preconstruction and construction progress meetings, coordinate multiple work locations, perform audit inspection throughout the construction process, coordinate for quality assurance inspection of completed work. Ability to actively coordinate between private business entities at
JFK, and the various departments within the facility to successfully complete tenant alteration work. Verify safety procedures are maintained.
The Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for assuring all submittals, schedules, insurance, and other contract requirements are submitted and approved by the responsible stakeholders. The Mechanical Inspector will work with various Tenant Alteration Contractors to ensure schedule and other related work submittals are distributed. In addition, work with the Office Engineer in preparing Change-Orders, estimates, and associated Notice-to-Proceed letters to the contractor(s). The Mechanical Inspector shall keep the
Assistant Resident Engineers/Resident Engineer informed on all contract discrepancies and differing field conditions. consultants and other stakeholders.
- Night and weekend shifts may be required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Preferred Certified Special Inspector. ICC commercial mechanical inspector (M2).
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Minimum of five (5) or more years’ experience in progressively more difficult and responsible construction management and inspection. Construction experience must include underground utility inspections, mechanical system inspections and commissioning, and plumbing inspection and testing.
- Trained in fall protection, scaffolding and ladders; permit required confined space; lockout/tagout, Work-zone Safety and 30 hr. OSHA construction safety training.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with BOCA, NYC Building Code and Other Applicable Codes and Standards.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Familiarity with Primavera and Expedition/Contract Manager.
- Ability to pass a Background Check for Aeronautical (airside) access.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55.00 - $75.00 per hour
