What are the responsibilities and job description for the Asset Accountant position at Pacsun?

Overview:
Ensure accurate and timely capture of financial transactions from subsidiary systems and
manual journal entries in the general ledger. Provide general ledger accounting support and reporting to
internal (senior management, functional areas, and department heads) and external customers (parent
company, external auditors).

Responsibilities:
Core Accountabilities:
  • Maintain G/L accounts, set up new stores, establish and close accounts as necessary, update GL
system reporting and accurately schedule GL jobs during the close process.
  • Develop and maintain PC reporting models including numerous spreadsheets which calculate
journal entries for allocations, benefit adjustments, DFS charges, interest expense, earnings,
taxes, supplemental corporation reporting, government Census Bureau reporting and Tax
Department year-end tax reports.
  • Prepare and monitor month-end close calendar. Communicate and follow up with Finance team
deadlines related to submission and approval of journal entries for scheduled system posting
deadlines.
  • Provide all data and direction to departments for analysis and adjustment for their accounts at
month-end.
  • Develop and provide management reporting and information to internal customers (functional
areas and department heads) and external customers (parent company, external auditors, taxing
authorities, census bureau).
  • Reconcile and analyze specific general ledger accounts.
  • Support IS in the requirements gathering, testing, and implementation of new systems.
  • Assist external auditors with year-end financial statement audit.
  • Maintain SOX compliance regarding CORE JE and Reconciliation log.
  • Assist with other financial reporting projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience Required:
  • BA / BS in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience preferred. Will consider recent graduates.
  • Experience with Accounting software systems and proficiency in Excel- Infor Cloud Suite
Financials, Lawson, PCLink, Hyperion and Data Warehouse experience a plus.
  • Inventory/ cost accounting a plus.
  • Understanding of the relationship between various financial reports: Balance Sheet, Income
Statement, and Cash Flow.
  • Understand flow of financial information from transactions to reports.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all staff levels in Finance / Accounting and other
departments as required.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time well, and handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work remotely, collaborate and communicate using various tools.

associate is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; as well as
reach with hands and arms.
  • The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move
up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision,
depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
  • Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
  • Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on
multiple floors throughout building.
  • Hotel, Airplane, and Car Travel Required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. As a National Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be
required during periods of high volume. This role operates in a professional office environment and
routinely uses standard office equipment.
