Grossing Technician- Gastroenterology

Pay Range: $26.00 to $30.00 an hour

By adhering to Connecticut State Law, pay ranges are posted. The pay rate will vary based on various factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge of position and comparison to others who are already in this role within the company.

PACT MSO has a busy Gastroenterology Group that is seeing a Part Time Grossing Technician for for their Pathology Department. The position is located in Hamden and will be working Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 12:00pm.

Summary

Performs routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of grossing GI Biobsy specimens for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s), according to policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

• Accession all specimens daily
• Enter specimens into database accurately and timely
• Resolve any issues with specimens, including patient demographics, missing specs, etc.
• Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples.
• Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.
• May perform gross tissue examination (high complexity testing) if meets personnel qualifications set forth by the 1988 CLIA CFR 493. 1489 and the corporate Minimum Qualifications for Personnel Performing Gross Tissue Examinations SOP.
• Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies, and documents all quality control activities

Skills and Knowledge

Education and Experience

• AA, AS, BS degree or equivalent training and experience
• 1-2 years or more of Grossing Pathology Specimens
• Science Background (CLIA High Complexity Testing regulations) required
