Youth Care Worker
Job Summary:
The Youth Care Worker is responsible for all direct care to adolescents ages 5-17 and provide continuous supervision to assigned unaccompanied children (UCs). They ensure quality care of all UCs and follow all Office of Refugees and Resettlement and PAE policies.
Reports to: Shift Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Provide support to UC’s that may have been exposed to Covid or other communicable illnesses. Position may require the use of full personal protective equipment (PPE), to include fitted N95 masks, gowns, gloves and googles/face shields when providing direct supervision to COVID positive children.
Provide nurturing and engaging involvement to UCs in age-appropriate activities based on maturity level.
Assist or act as the point of contact for transportation of the UCs for various activities, to include medical appointments, reunifications, recreational activities, and mealtimes.
Document shift and UC activities in reports that may be used internally and externally; database specific training provided and required.
Other Duties:
Perform all duties in a safe and productive manner.
Able perform a physical intervention using CPI.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 20 pounds unassisted.
Must be able to climb stairs.
Must have good balance and be able to stand, sit, bend, stoop, twist, walk and move quickly.
Experience & Education:
Minimum age of 21 years or older.
High school diploma or its equivalent.
Clean criminal background check.
Clean Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) or child protective services check.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with children in child welfare or social service setting.
Flexibility and willingness to travel as needed.
Excellent presentation skills, as well as oral and written communication skills in English.
Proficiency with computer, common office equipment, and MS Office products required.
Language may vary based on the population. These languages are a plus: Dari, Pashto, Farsi
