Job Posting for Market Area Safety Manager at Pagada Services
The Market Area Safety Manager is mainly responsible for compliance with the Company’s Health and Safety Programs and aligning company standards with all applicable legislation. Our goal is to ensure that all programs introduced to staff members and management are communicated properly and understood in order to provide a safe workplace. They will be reinforcing the safety of front-line staff members who service both our NY and NJ market areas.
Additional Responsibilities
Communicate operational safety issues as needed to supervisors, managers and other employees
Work with market area leadership to develop specific safety improvements plans
Assist in the implementation and carrying out of safety training programs within their market
Represent the Safety Department for market area staff meetings
Conduct weekly incident review with site managers
Conduct monthly safety meetings at each location within the market area
Review incident trends to identify preventable occurrences, and recommend corrective action to Operations
Investigate any safety concerns, report findings and recommend corrective measures
Manage facilities and vehicle inspections, report findings and recommend action plan
Conduct route observations, report findings and recommend corrective action
Interact with all levels of management to communicate site-specific safety programs
Handle both accident and incident “Root Cause” investigations
Ensure all information, signs, posters, and other materials that warn of potential and actual safety hazards are legible and clearly implemented
Assist Risk Management department to implement Loss Prevention measures
Review and communicate findings of Behavioral Analysis reports on regular basis
Recommend coaching materials to Operations management as needed
Work Environment
The Market Area Safety Manager will be based in one of our four designated market areas, however occasional job duties require traveling throughout NY/NJ areas
This position requires both standing and sitting duties throughout the day.
This position is reimbursed for all company related travel expenses
Requirements
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
High school/GED education completed, higher education is a plus.
Minimum 5 years’ experience from the transportation industry, safety industry and/or a relevant supervision position is mandatory
Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.
Must have advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
Fluency in English required, Spanish bilingual is a plus.
Must work well in team environment as well as use independent discretion when conducting observations, handling incidents, or giving corrective measures to employees
Must be comfortable driving in all five New York boroughs during day or night
