Palladium's capital advisory team is a leading impact investment bank creating solutions and mobilizingcapital to address the world's most pressing challenges. The team combines strengths at the intersection of impact investing, international development and strategy consultancy.
The capital advisory team is comprised of 20 corporate finance and impact investing professionals, based broadly in London and New York City, tackling global and local problems that require creative, hands-on and people-focused approaches to mobilizingcapital and unlocking positive impact. There is increasing urgency to direct financial and human capital towards social inclusion and justice and environmental regeneration, and we are looking for resourceful, purpose-driven people to join our flat and rapidly growing team. We are working with mission-driven companies from across the world, with the majority of our clients based in, or focused on, emerging markets, and in a wide array of sectors of the impact economy. Within Palladium, the capital advisory team focuses on three broad sets of services:
Capital Raising
We structure, negotiate and execute transactions for impact ventures, and mission-driven financial institutions, including capital raising and M&A. Leveraging our knowledge of emerging and frontier markets and through an impact lens, we work closely with clients to frame and promote investment propositions to a strong, relevant, and values-based global investor network. Sensitive to the needs of all stakeholders, we secure mission-aligned investors that bring the right blend of capital and other support to propel clients forward. Our focus is on ensuring alignment of objectives between the investor and the investee.
Capital Strategy and Structuring
A particular area of focus is the design and structuring of investment vehicles for sponsors wishing to solve specific social and environmental problems with investment capital. We create funds and other vehicles starting from the identification of the problem, and design a practical solution around that problem, whilst using our market knowledge and networks to ensure relevance to the investor audience. Our work covers some or all of identification of the problem, mapping out an appropriate capital strategy and designing operational and governance aspects of the vehicle.
Fund Placement
We support fund managers in raising capital for funds or other vehicles from aligned investors, including into blended capital structures. We advise on the fundraising strategy, conduct investor outreach and support the fund placement process through to closing.
Location:
The position is based in Palladium's New York, NY office. Palladium operates a hybrid model, whereas the Summer Analyst will be expected to spend 2-3 days per week in the office.
You and Your Career:
The Summer Analyst will have broad exposure to the transaction and advisory environment within the growing impact investing market. You will be a key contributor to a variety of projects (usually 2-4 at a time) across our service lines with a diverse range of clients based across the globe, with involvement in business development and practice building. The Summer Analyst will provide critical support to project managers, manage selected project workstreams, and enjoy the opportunity to develop a range of key skills to succeed as an impact investment professional.
The internship is paid and expected to last 10-14 weeks between early June and September 2023. Start and end dates are flexible.

Reporting and Supervision:
This position will report to an Associate in our capital advisory services team based in New York.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and opportunities allocated to the Summer Analyst will include a selection of the following:
Client Mandate Execution
Contributing to client deliverables including presentations, reports, research documents, marketing materials, and financial models.
Conduct market research, business analysis, and financial modeling, including valuations
Presenting your work to your project manager, project team, and/or the client.
Co-ordinating outreach to investors and tracking feedback.
Support in project management, including participation in and documentation of calls with clients and investors, managing due diligence processes, maintaining data rooms, etc.
Practice Building
Preparing whitepapers for online publication, focused on our core sectors (Energy, Financial Inclusion, Nature-Based Solutions)
Support business development efforts through research and relationship management of social enterprises and investors in target sectors and geographies, leveraging a CRM tool to collect data
Engaging with universities to develop relationships that will feed into future internship programs.
Learning & Development
Working towards a Financial Modeling and Valuation Analyst (FMVA) certification offered by the Corporate Finance Institute.
Receiving on-the-job training in industry-specialist tools (e.g. Pitchbook, CRM) and practical/soft skills (e.g. research, professional presentations and public speaking).
Receiving one-to-one structured support and guidance from three team members: a Buddy (Analyst), Manager (Associate), and Mentor (Director).
Attending internal networking events, potentially including a trip to our head office in Washington, D.C. in July.
Attending external networking events alongside permanent Palladium, capital advisory team members.
You will have access to our internal training platform which includes courses on capital strategy, financial modelling, and consulting.
Key Competencies Required:
We are seeking an individual with a passion for creating tangible, lasting impact through finance
You must demonstrate strong academic performance in a relevant discipline as well as a strong motivation to enter the impact investment space.
Relevant internship experience in transaction advisory, investment banking, strategy consulting, or evaluating impact investing, as well as experience in developing countries, are advantageous.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
High degree of proficiency in Excel, including the ability to create/edit financial models
High degree of proficiency in PowerPoint and Word
