About This Role
Responsible for providing specialized guidance and services to current, new, and prospective students with disabilities. Conducts comprehensive intake interviews with students. Reviews disability diagnosis documentations and evaluations for completeness. Engages in the interactive process with students, and approves appropriate accommodations. Provides academic advising and priority registration for students with disabilities. Assists students in preparing for disability related appeals and substitution petitions. Maintains files and database of disabilities and accommodations.
What a Day Of An Accessibility Advisor Looks Like:
- Provides services and activities, which promote uniform accessibility to students with disabilities in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Manages a case load of students for academic advising and accommodations to aid in retention and completion. Provides academic advising according to career pathway that meet program and graduation requirements.
- Researches, demonstrates, and recommends assistive technology tools and services to support student retention and completion. Conducts assistive technology workshops for students, faculty and staff.
- Assists in the delivery of various testing programs including analyzing test results and identifying areas requiring further attention.
- Monitors standards for the privacy requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and adherence to health information in compliance with featured and State laws and the college’s privacy practices. Full access to protected health information (PHI).
- Handles security and confidentiality of State, national, and college tests and records, scoring procedures and data collection and reporting.
- Prepares, reviews, and revises required reports for various internal and external requests. Ensures accuracy and completeness of reports.
- Maintains, manages, and distributes the inventory of assistive technology equipment.
- Identifies user requirements, evaluates alternatives, and makes recommendations for the product selection.
- Resolves conflict, negotiation and implement solutions. Escalates conflict to the next appropriate level of management.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- One year of related experience, to include advising, coaching, presenting or support experience
Knowledge Of:
- Laws governing student disabilities in education
- Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
- Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) within 30 days of employment
Skilled In:
- Delivering a high level of customer service
- Effective time and task management
- Attention to detail
Ability To:
- Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
- Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service
- Travel to other campus locations
- Work in a variety of settings to deliver services to students without a decrease in performance
- Use various video conference platforms
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, Or Special Requirements:
- Regular physical attendance required
- Valid Florida driver’s license

- Bilingual speaking
- Demonstrated experience with video editing applications

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $42,583.00 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
