Founded in 1916, Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club is located in Tampa’s most prestigious residential neighborhood and is the Tampa Bay area’s most prestigious private club. The club features an 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts, swimming, a fitness center, and clubhouse for member entertaining, dining and banquets. Our main focus is providing our members and their guests with outstanding facilities and the highest standard of service.


Job Summary

The golf cart attendant is an entry-level position that works for the outside golf operations performing routine tasks involving maintaining golf cart and range conditions and attending to golf bags. Primary responsibility falls on service to members, efficiency of cart loading, cart cleanliness, staging, and storing. This job does not require an advanced education, however, in order to be successful the incumbent must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision; must possess the interpersonal skills necessary to interact frequently with members and their guests; must be able to tolerate a significant amount of heavy moving and/or lifting; and must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and special events. Golf Pro Shop standard hours of operation are 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Tuesday through Sunday; however hours may vary due to special circumstances or events.


Essential Duties

  • Acknowledges and greets all members and their guests, ensuring they are provided the highest standard of service. Fields member or guest concerns and/or directs them to a supervisor for resolution.
  • Provides proper assistance with cart handling and loading/unloading clubs on golf carts. Delivers golf carts from cart shelter to staging area; loads and unloads golf bags and gear between storage room racks and carts; returns carts to cart shelter; removes towels, pencils, score cards, tees, drink cans, from carts.
  • Maintains the golf cart fleet by performing daily duties including: cleaning and preparing carts, stocking cart amenities (towels, tees, pencils, scorecards, etc.), removing items after each use, ensuring proper fuel or power to carts, inspecting each cart for mechanical problems and reporting any mechanical issues (including brakes, tires, bag straps, steering, etc.) in a timely manner.
  • Maintains the driving range and equipment in proper condition by performing daily duties including: ensuring an adequate level of range balls, collecting, cleaning or delivering balls, rotation of mats, ensuring functioning of lighting equipment, tee alignment, maintaining clean water in club cleaner and ball washer, ball picking, culling of cracked or damaged range balls.
  • Ensures continuity of member service by ensuring all work areas are neat, clean, and free of trash, debris, and waste.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and complies with uniform and dress codes.
  • Assists in training other cart attendants as needed.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Performs other related duties that may be assigned by the direct supervisor.

Requirements

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to perform physically strenuous tasks repetitively, such as carrying golf bags, cleaning carts, picking up balls from ranges. Ability to stand and perform moderately physically demanding work for sustained periods of time throughout work shift.
  • Ability to lift and move objects (average weight of 40-60 lbs.) and repetitive motion and activities such as walking, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, carrying, etc.
  • Must be able to tolerate working outside in Florida temperatures and adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, humidity, rain, and temperature extremes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, and/or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license to operate golf carts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a golf cart/bag drop attendant, or a basic understanding of the game of golf.
