Steward - Canoe Club (Hourly + 4% Commission)

Palmetto Bluff is nestled along the May River in the Lowcountry of South Carolina between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. Summary:

This steward position must possess a working knowledge of the kitchens stewarding department. Some knowledge of kitchen and sanitation equipment as well as all chemicals used in these areas. This person will clean and sanitize, transport, and store all China, glassware, silver, silverware, pots and pans used in the food and beverage operations. Sweep and mop floors. Sweep, scrub and keep tidy the garbage areas. Stand for long periods of time and must be able to lift 50 pounds without any restrictions. This role will contribute to the organization as an active business partner that is responsible for supporting the company's goals, objectives, vision, mission, and values.

Wage Structure:
 The steward is paid an hour rate of $15.00 Per hour plus a portion of the 4% culinary commission!

Essential Functions:

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

• Maintaining cleanliness of all dish machines
• Take out the trash.
• Clean garbage cans
• Assisting with delivering of all hot/cold food for Banquet functions
• Setting up Banquet break down stations.
• Cleaning, sanitizing and properly storing all china, glassware, silver, silverware, pots, and pans in the hotel; ensuring that cleanliness, sanitation and recycling is of top priority.
• Ensuring restaurant and banquet kitchens are consistently stocked with the proper amounts of all equipment.
• Responsible for properly sanitizing and cleaning all kitchen floors, recycle bins and oil bins; maintaining the cleanliness of the Recycle/trash room at all times.
• Making sure the dish machine is working properly.
• Making sure all chemicals are being used correctly.
• Assisting with removing used linen and restocking linen

Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous stewarding experience preferred.
• Experience in a private club, hotel or resort preferred.
• Ability to speak, read, write and understand English required.

Physical Requirements:

• Most work tasks are performed indoors. 
• Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems. 
• Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours in length. 
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. 
• Must be able to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, squat, stretch and fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally. 
• Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment. 
• Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens ( 110°F). 
• Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 200 lbs. occasionally. 
• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.
