SUMMARY:
Palmetto Engineering & Consulting, a progressive, consulting firm, is seeking qualified individuals to perform telecommunications outside plant technical services involving cable staking, design and count assignments – both aerial and buried. Prior RUS telecommunications experience heavily weighted.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The OSP Technician/Engineer will be required to perform outside plant engineering. The successful candidate must have an understanding of fiber and copper network construction and related engineering and drafting.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Outside Plant Telecom work experience along with OSP engineering.
  • Experience in designing and documenting Outside Plant Copper or Fiber Optic Cable facilities (UG, Aerial, Buried).
  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction practices and techniques related to utility work.
  • Familiarity in obtaining Permits including railroad, highway, pipeline, etc.
  • Experience with CAD and GIS helpful.
  • Ability to complete work according to customer specifications and requirements.
  • Must be able to work independently, travel weekly to job site as needed, possess a valid driver's license and be able to pass a substance abuse screening test.
