Lead Store Associate

Summary
Assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in the operation and management of a retail outlet and donation processing center by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors and/or employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide SMILES customer service to ensure that customers and donors receive prompt, courteous service. Ensures subordinate staff are engaged in and providing SMILES customer service to all customers and donors.
Supervises store personnel and store activities in the absence of/and at the direction of the Store Manager and/or Assistant Manager; see Supervisory Responsibilities below.
Performs all administrative and clerical duties including making bank deposits and securing the building at the direction of the Store Manager or Assistant Manager in accordance with established guidelines.
Issue refunds and resolves customer complaints.
Make scheduling and production decisions to meet established sales and production quotas in the absence of the Store Manager.
Open and close the retail store at the direction of the Store Manager.
Price hard good to achieve maximum sales potential in accordance with established guidelines.
Process customer transactions by ringing the sale on a cash register, collecting the payment, making change, bagging the merchandise, and thanking the customer.
Report known or suspected security and/or theft problems to the Store Manager, Assistant Manager or the Director of Sales.
Assist in the receiving and processing of donated items.
Assist in the general housekeeping and appearance of the store.
Performs other job-related tasks as assigned by the Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager
Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises store employees in the absence of/and at the direction of the Store Manager and Assistant Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency's policies and procedures. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; addressing complaints and reporting circumstances to the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.

Qualifications
Ability to read and interpret memos and operating and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present standard information in one-on-one situations to customers and other employees of the organization using tact, courtesy and cooperativeness. Ability to add/subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10's and 100's. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables. Ability to operate a telephone, multi key register, typewriter, computer, fax machine and material handling equipment. Must be able to obtain and maintain Forklift/Stacker and CPR/First Aid certifications. Ability to perform data entry and key boarding. Ability to instruct, or verify the work of others. Valid Driver's License (Class C) and access to reliable transportation at all times.

Education and Experience
High School diplomas or general education degree (GED) and one year of retail experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands
The employee is regularly (more than 2/3 of the day) required to talk or hear. The employee frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the day) is required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; push or pull. The employee is occasionally (less than 1/3 of the day) required to sit, kneel, stoop, throw, turn and twist body. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception. Some local travel required.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to dust and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to the extreme cold, extreme heat and wet or humid conditions.
