What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Nurse Manager - Med Surg Tele position at Palomar Health?
Provides leadership and direct management to meet the goals and objectives of the organization and service for the assigned unit. Using a collaborative approach, assures mutual cooperation of the multidisciplinary team supporting the goals for the shared patient. Participates in interview and may independently make hiring decisions. Uses critical thinking in planning, priority-setting, and decision-making while ensuring positive working systems exist to support the staff's ability to meet patient needs. Responsible for rounding on direct reports and completing evaluations for assigned employee group. Participating in coaching/counseling of staffing including participation in disciplinary meetings. Responsible for time and attendance review, approval, edits, and reporting. Completes patient and EOC rounds and provides prompt service recovery when indicated. May also investigate patient grievances and provide findings to Manager for response. Investigates, remediates, and closes quality review reports. Reviews and analyzes quality and patient audit reports. Participates in committee meetings and trainings as required and assigned by direct leadership. Is a role model inspiring others through displayed optimism, provides intellectual stimulation, and encourages follower creativity. Regularly participates in leadership development trainings. Ensures ongoing regulatory readiness of the staff and service, participating in chart reviews, monitoring and other performance improvement activities as assigned. Requires 24-hour accountability.
Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.
