We have an immediate opening for the following position:
Purchasing Specialist
Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:
To negotiate with suppliers, process purchase orders, track orders to ensure on-time delivery, creating and maintaining an inventory, quality assurance, and liaising with inventory teams and management. The buyer will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Support the execution of production / purchasing plan as needed to meet sales requirements.
- Meet quality, on-time deliveries and cost targets by managing purchase order process. (e.g., RFQs, pricing adjustments, PO releases, specification, requirement, schedule changes)
- Support phase in/ phase out material plans as required for product introduction and/or obsolescence.
- Responsible for target stock levels and making adjustments as needed, as well as reporting on potential gaps.
- Follow all standard operating procedures and input ideas for improvement to planning/purchasing systems and procedures.
- Minimize cost by monitoring and reporting on shrinkage metrics (e.g., breakage, yields, product obsolescence).
- Responsible for special projects, process/systems improvements, and/or cost savings initiatives as assigned.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Skills & Abilities)
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems
- Organizational skills and ability to multi-task while coordinating activities
- Problem solving and resolution skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Two plus years of experience in manufacturing purchasing environment preferred.
