Pana Community Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Preoperative and Postoperative Nurse to join our Surgery Team!
Department: Surgery
Job Title: Pre/Post Operative RN
Status: Non- exempt; Full-time
Hours: Monday – Friday; no weekends, holidays, or on call required
Responsibilities:
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of current standards and guidelines related to perioperative nursing
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments before surgery, ensuring all necessary preoperative tests and procedures are completed
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless preparation for surgery
- Monitor and manage postoperative patients in the recovery room, assessing vital signs, pain management and wound care and address any immediate concerns
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high pressure situations
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years preoperative and postoperative nursing experience
- BLS, ACLS, & PALS certification required
- Currently Licensed as an RN in the State of Illinois
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, preoperative, and postoperative care protocols
- Cerner experience (preferred)
