PLEASE TAKE NOTE:  We are currently seeking a Fiber Technician immediately for various fiber communication projects throughout various job sites in Montana.  If you don't have fiber splicing experience of at least 2 years, please do not apply.  Please check our career site for other openings that may require less experience: https://pangaeacommandconstruction.bamboohr.com/careers - More locations are starting soon. TRAVEL is required. If you currently reside outside the project sites listed above, you will be required to travel for extended periods of time and will receive daily per diem reimbursement.

Summary of Position:

A successful Fiber Technician shall be responsible for proper preparation and splicing of fiber optic cable within a telecommunications system. At a minimum, the position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications network structure; familiarity with fiber optic cable, splice enclosures and the functionality of each; ability to use OTDR and fusion splicing equipment; ability to read fiber matrices; ability to interpret and analyze data; and, ability to identify and troubleshoot problems.

 

Experience & Education Requirements:

 

  • 2 years of Fiber Optic construction/installation experience.
  • Proficient in using fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment including traffic meters, fusion splicer, power meter, VFL and OTDR using EXFO Fast Reporter with IOLM Format.
  • Knowledge of applicable electronic equipment and specialty tools.
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • General Computer Skills; Word, Power Point, Excel, Internet, e-mail, and industry software as required.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize effectively.
  • Accountable – Take ownership and commit to get it right, the first time.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

 

Additional Hiring Requirements:

 

  • Must be able to work a very flexible schedule.
  • Must be able to travel throughout various locations in/out of state with some overnight stays as necessary. Company vehicles are provided during your workday, but employees must have reliable transportation to get to/from the job sites.
  • Must have a smart cell phone to clock in/out of mobile application.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check (offenses will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for the state in which you reside and satisfactory results of a Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Obtaining and maintaining an interstate DOT Medical Card and meeting all Federal Interstate FMCSA requirements to operate a Regulated Motor Vehicle will be required.
  • Verifying your legal right to work in the United States under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA).

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • Ability to work outdoors and to work in all types of outdoor weather.
  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, carry, and lift as needed.
  • Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet, and limbs in performing skilled movement.
  • Ability to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time -100% of the position is traveling or in the field performing work in various locations.
