Job Description – Our developmental specialist’s primary role is to write and maintain individual program plans for adults with disabilities the meet Medicaid/company standards for all clients on your caseload. However, this job is much more. You will help develop and execute training curriculum for adults with disabilities to achieve the goals they have chosen to live the life they want to live. To make this happen you will spend 1:1 time with the individuals on your caseload in order to customize their training and then work with the floor staff to execute this training (you will train the trainers). This is a high energy up close and personal job that truly does give back however, key attributes include patience, diplomacy, organizational skills and excellent time management. Our system is specific but intense and supportive training is provided throughout the first 4-6 months.
Qualifications - Must possess a bachelor’s degree in specified fields (see below). All other degrees accepted but if not listed you must pass a competency course that . You must complete two hundred forty (240) hours of professionally supervised experience with individuals who have developmental disabilities which is also provided. Must maintain current 1st Aid and CPR and complete a Health and Welfare criminal background check prior to hiring.
Qualifying degrees - special education, speech and language pathology, applied behavioral analysis, occupational therapy, social work, therapeutic recreation, psychology, physical therapy
