Paradigm is searching for an Injection Molding Tooling Engineer to support our client, a leader in custom injection molding. The Injection Molding Tooling Engineer plays a pivotal role in coordinating activities to ensure the efficient building and procurement of mold tooling via external resources. This position involves maintaining existing tooling, coordinating repairs or modifications, and ensuring accurate documentation of all tooling-related activities. Additionally, you will serve as a supervisor and mentor to Tooling Department staff, providing technical expertise and leadership.

As an Injection Molding Tooling Engineer you will:
- Evaluate tooling orders and examine part drawings, tool drawings and 3D models to determine tool requirements, including special materials or items needed for procurement.
- Collaborate with customers for design for manufacturability (DFM) to optimize tooling designs.
- Review requisitions for items required for tooling maintenance and initiate procurement processes.
- Contact vendors to obtain tooling quotes and monitor tooling status, expediting orders when necessary to meet production timelines.
- Provide technical expertise on mold-making to both customers and internal stakeholders, supporting sales and engineering with quoting, part design, and tool design.
- Maintain comprehensive records of tooling procurement, status updates, and disposition information.
- Process requests for tool repairs, determining whether repairs will be conducted in-house or outsourced to external vendors.
- Adhere to internal processes, guidelines, policies, and Quality System standards to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with other departments and personnel to fulfill customer requirements effectively.
- Select vendors and procure tooling and fixtures within established procurement guidelines.
- Offer feedback on part design to support design for manufacturability initiatives.
- Determine staffing requirements, conduct interviews, and select candidates for vacant positions.
- Conduct evaluations of employee performance and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Facilitate performance improvement through coaching, mentoring, and training of lead operator staff.
- Interpret and enforce company policies and safety regulations to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Promote adherence to the quality system and ensure staff members are educated and compliant with quality system requirements.
Requirements
Our skills and wish list experience includes:
- Bachelor's degree in Plastics Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience in tool design or tool making.
- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in 3D CAD, MRP, and word processing applications.
- Extensive knowledge of injection molding tooling design and tool making processes.
- Strong team player with excellent communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in time management, multitasking, and prioritization of multiple projects
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, and capable of performing root cause analysis.
