Financial Controller - Defense Manufacturing (Parachute Industry)
We are currently seeking a Financial Controller to oversee our financial operations within the defense manufacturing sector, specifically focusing on the parachute industry. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic financial perspective to the manufacturing processes, ensuring cost-effective production without compromising quality and compliance with defense contracting standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the overall financial strategy for the manufacturing of defense parachutes, including cost accounting, inventory analysis, and budgeting.
• Implement robust financial systems and controls to ensure accuracy of financial reporting, compliance with government regulations, and alignment with industry-specific financial practices.
• Manage the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies.
• Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow for administration, existing programs, and proposed new sites.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, production variances, and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans.
• Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and non-organizational accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities.
• Monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure that program and organizational risks are minimized.
• Advise on the financial implications of business activities, strategic planning, and conduct cost-benefit analyses to compare operating programs, review financial requests, or explore alternative financing methods.
• Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
• Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a financial leadership role, preferably in defense manufacturing or a related industry.
- Extensive experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment; specific knowledge of the parachute industry being highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) compliance, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
- Proven experience in strategic planning, risk management, and change management.
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent leadership abilities with a track record of managing a financial team.
- Proficiency with financial software and advanced skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
The role requires a U.S. citizenship. Previous experience in a defense contracting environment is required, and a deep understanding of the unique financial challenges in the defense parachute manufacturing sector is highly preferred.
