Job Summary:
The Machine Setup Operator – CNC Swiss Lathe is expected to setup and operate computer numerical control machines to fabricate raw materials and/or parts. The Machine Setup Operator – Swiss Lathe loads sets up machine and loads raw material and/or parts in the machine, cycles program and detects malfunctions in the machine operation, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. The position runs production, communicates with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform all assigned tasks which may include but are not limited to the following.
- Read blueprints and follow inspection in-process logs.
- Operate various CNC equipment such as Swiss Lathe and to machine or grind components appeasing precise customer specifications.
- Completes and maintains paperwork for operations / tasks and inspection completed.
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee.
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition defined by safety procedures.
- Complete routine maintenance on equipment e.g. fill the cutting oil and check filters.
- Manual deburring is required for specific jobs before or after machining operation is completed.
- Understand function and importance of lot control.
- Observe and follow company safety rules and regulations defined in Employee Hand-book and Employee Safety Manual.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position.
- 2nd shift hours are Monday – Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Skills and Abilities:
- Must have a general knowledge of a work instruction/operation set up sheet
- Machines and tools, including their uses, repair and maintenance
- Utilize of basic inspection equipment
- Must be committed to quality, safety and communication
Education, Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or graduation from a certified technical school (preferred)
- Minimum 3-5 years of related experience setup/run of CNC machines
- Experience with Fanuc CNC controller
- Experience in setting up and running production CNC Swiss Lathe – Star lathe experience a plus
- Experience using multiple inspection equipment - Drop gages, pin gages, calipers, Micrometer, optical comparators, etc.
- Experience machining tight tolerance parts /- .0005 typically
- Must be able to understand/ reading blue prints
- Must be willing to work with others in a production mfg environment
- Ability to work OT a plus
